Key Topics the Seminar Covers

Why Traditional Diets Almost Always Fail

Your body is biologically wired to regain weight after dieting. We explain the hormonal feedback loops that make sustained weight loss nearly impossible without medical intervention for many patients.

Obesity Science

Sleep, Stress, Diet & Exercise — How They All Connect

Why medications alone rarely work long-term. How poor sleep sabotages weight loss. The role of cortisol and stress in fat storage. Why a comprehensive program outperforms any single approach.

Lifestyle Medicine

GLP-1 Medications — The 2026 Landscape

What semaglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic) and tirzepatide (Zepbound/Mounjaro) actually do, who they're right for, how they compare to surgery, and why they work best as part of a comprehensive program rather than standalone.

Current Medications

Future Trends in Obesity Treatment

What's coming in the next 5 years — combination therapies, new surgical techniques, personalized metabolic medicine, and why this is the most exciting time ever to be treating obesity.

Future of Medicine

The Importance of Comprehensive, Long-Term Care

Why follow-up care after surgery or treatment is the single biggest predictor of long-term success. What our program offers every patient — for life — and why that matters more than the procedure itself.

Program Structure

Is Surgery the "Easy Way Out"?

Our surgeons address the stigma head-on. Obesity is a disease with genetic, hormonal, and environmental roots. Surgery is a medical intervention — one of the most studied and proven treatments in modern medicine.

Common questions

Questions About the Seminar

Is the seminar really free — no obligation?
Yes — completely free, no registration required, and watching this seminar does not obligate you to book an appointment or move forward with any treatment. We offer it because informed patients make better decisions, and better decisions lead to better outcomes.
Can I watch the seminar before my consultation?
Absolutely — and we strongly encourage it. Patients who watch the seminar before their consultation have much more productive appointments. They come with better questions and a clearer sense of which options interest them most.
Why is the video not live yet?
Our team is currently recording and editing the updated seminar to include the latest 2026 procedures, outcomes data, and medication options — including the newest GLP-1 therapies. We expect the video to be live in April 2026. In the meantime, you can book a consultation and our team will answer all your questions directly.
What's the difference between the surgical and medical weight loss seminars?
The Surgical Seminar is hosted by our bariatric surgeons and focuses on all aspects of surgical weight loss — candidacy, procedures, outcomes, and follow-up care. The Medical Weight Loss Seminar focuses on non-surgical approaches including GLP-1 medications, lifestyle medicine, and our physician-supervised program. Many patients watch both — and we recommend it.
What is the Better Way Wellness seminar?
Better Way Wellness is Shannon Rivera's specialized program focused on hormonal health, nutraceutical support, and IV therapy. It's designed for patients who want to optimize their wellbeing, improve energy, support recovery from illness, or address hormonal changes that come with aging — and it's separate from our weight loss programs, though many patients pursue both.
I'm not sure I'm ready for surgery. Should I still watch the surgical seminar?
Yes — absolutely. Many patients who watch our seminar decide not to pursue surgery, and that's completely fine. Our goal is for you to be fully informed about all your options. The seminar covers non-surgical approaches as well, and our team will help guide you to the right path for your specific situation — without pressure.
